Newsagents form a network of independently owned businesses that stretches throughout the country, being the largest independently owned retail and delivery network in Australia. The newsagency network is unique in that it is accessible in almost every local neighbourhood, Australia wide, being spread throughout our largest cities as well as located within the smallest country towns.

The newsagency industry in Australia is made up of some 5000 individually-owned family businesses which, together, represent the biggest retail and home-delivery network in the country. These businesses turn over some $6.5 billion per annum and provide employment for approximately 20,000 people. They home-deliver 3 million newspapers, distribute newspapers and magazines to 25,000 retail subagents and serve 2.5 million customers in their shops - daily! Newsagents sell over 80% of magazines sold in Australia and are the consumers' destination point because of their range of titles, their product knowledge and their stock handling systems. In short, newsagents are the professionals.

Your Newspaper Home Delivery

Your local newsagent or in some cases a specialist distribution newsagent is responsible for your daily newspaper home delivery. Each newsagent will be responsible for delivering hundreds and in some cases thousands of newspapers each day, seven days a week.

The morning newspaper landing at your door is the final step of a process that commences very early in the morning. In fact even the day before the final delivery round changes are made and delivery runs prepared for the early morning start. Bundles of newspapers arrive from the publishers early in the morning they are then wrapped and sorted into the delivery runs. In most cases deliveries are now made in vehicles, with a delivery driver being responsible for the last step of the process. As well as all the home deliveries the newsagent will also be making deliveries to a number of sub agents such as local milkbars.

Payment for home delivery may be made to your local newsagent right here on their page on YourNewsagent.com.au

Among the features of home delivery is the ability to suspend your delivery while you are away. This can now be arranged right here online on your local newsagents page.
